l've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I have 7 GB of free storage space. I don't know why this could be happening.

Lilkitten111​  Having only 7 GB free might well be the issue, so please try to clear up as much as you can.  It would be ideal to have more like 25 GB free, but at least 15 should be sufficient to eliminate this as a possible cause of the problem.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  If the folder copies instead of moving, or you get an error when trying to move it, stop here and let me know.

Otherwise, when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see whether you can get into live mode.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
