Build and buy not placing items

I'm having a problem when I try to place objects, fences, walls, just about anything in build and buy mode. The first object will place fine, but as soon as I try to place another/place a second of the same/pick it up and move it, the objects just wont place. I tried a couple of things and it seems that when I change te tool, to the hammer for example, and change it back it will place again, but only once.  

It goes like this: I select the lamp. I place it. I want to place it again in another room, but it doesn't matter how many times I click it, it doesnt place. I change the tool from the hand to the hammer. I change it back to the hand. Now I can place the lamp, but if I want to place a rug, I have to change to the hammer and back again.
