Camera doesn't work properly

I logged on to play the sims for the first time in about a week yesterday and found that my camera wasn't working how it normally would. Usually, to pan the screen, I would left click and drag, and it would allow me free control of looking up, down, left, right - basically allow me to get the exact angle I wanted. Now, when I try to do that it just moves as if I am using the wasd keys and I am unable to look up or down at all. This has never occurred to me before and only did this after I updated the game yesterday morning. I even removed all mods I had, and I still had the same issue. I am hoping this could be fixed quickly as it is rather annoying.

Incase anyone is wondering, I use and have always used the sims 4 camera option (or edge scrolling, whatever its called) in the game, and I play on my laptop.

  • hii_yayo  Did you try the clean folder Crinrict described earlier?  I can't tell from your replies.  If you haven't yet, please do so now.  You don't need to delete the old folder; in fact, you can put it back when you're done testing.

If the new folder doesn't help, please switch to the Sims 3 camera, close the game, open Options.ini (in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4), search for advancedcamera , and let me know whether it's set to 0 or 1, the latter being the Sims 3 camera.  The point is to see whether the change is registering correctly or not.

I tried that, and I found the same issue. I have only used the sims 3 camera when I want to freely rotate specific objects and then when I am done, I click off the camera and go back to the normal one.

  • hii_yayo  Are you sure you always used the TS4 camera??

What you described that the camera used to do sounds like the TS3 camera to me.  So, try changing the camera setting in Game Options to the TS3 camera to see if that is what you had rather than with the TS4 camera.

    Hope this helps.
