Camera panning not working

So I keep trying to use camera panning woth WASD or arrow keys in the game. My settings are set to Sims 3 camera. But nothing works. I tried to toggle it on and off. The only way for me to move camera is by nearing the edge if the screen with edge scrolling. The keyboard keys do not work. I have checked that my keyboard works and functions. Moreover, I can search in the game for objects or type freely using WASD or even using the arrow keys to shift through the letters typed. Keyboard shortcuts also work fine. It is the camera panning that refuses to. I have tried all the fixes found on the net and they do not work. Even going into game files and adjusting/deleting etc as google search suggested. I did a clean re-install too after fully uninstalling. Still refuses to work. I am at my wits' end. I never had this issue of camera not being able to pan.

  • GoldRagedFlame  Do the keys work with Sims 4 in windowed mode?  Please try if you haven't already.

The next step would be to disable any apps that come with overlays: Steam, Discord, etc.  Disable the EA App in-game overlay as well, under Settings > Application.

And let me know if any other keyboard shortcuts don't work don't perform their in-game function, for example M for Map view or G to toggle the grid in Build/Buy.  Here's a list if it helps:

Yes, I have tried windowed mode, windowed fullscreen, fullscreen. It is only the camera panning that refuses to work, all keyboard shortcuts in build mode and even live mode like pause, play, double speed, all work. M, G, E, B, K, R etc all work. Even if I try typing in the catalog search inside build mode WASD can be used as well as arrow keys to swap to a different letter in the typed text. As soon as it is about panning the camera itself however, they are dead.

Out of the solutions so far I have tried:

    1. Reset the camera settings →
Open Game Options → Controls & Camera.
Toggle The Sims 3 Camera ON, apply, then OFF again (been playing with this to no avail, also I prefer the Sims 3 camera)
    2. Disabling EA overlay in game.
    3. Resetting user settings → close the game → go to:
      Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
      Rename Options.ini to Options_old.ini.
Start the game. All to cause a fresh Options.ini to be created.
    4. Checking if is an issue with my corrupted game folder by going to "The Sims 4" → renaming the whole folder as "Sims 4 Old" and prompting the game to force a new "Sims 4" folder.
    5. Repairing the game in the EA App. Did virtually nothing.
    6. Press Windows + R → type "msconfig" → hide all windows processes and disable everything else (had to re-enable all back because that broke the apps including EA)
    7. Uninstall and reinstall fresh.

No matter the actions taken my problem persists. Also, I DO NOT HAVE MODS. So it is definitely not a mod breaking my game. I am going crazy T_T amd yes, I have tried the EA game overlay off and still no luck

  • GoldRagedFlame  Try the clean boot again (disabling services in msconfig), except leave the EABackgroundService enabled.  That's the one the EA App needs in order to work.
