Hi I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if the sims 4 or custom content in the sims 4 can cause blue screen of death crashes? My game has been working fine with custom content up until recently, not sure if it’s anything to do with the game or my laptop itself. I’ve tried playing the game without custom content but it’s hard to tell because the crashes seem to happen randomly as I’ve played the game for hours before it crashed and sometimes it crashes after 10 minutes. Any help would be appreciated!

@robbxe There are plenty of causes of BSODs, but it's difficult to troubleshoot them without more information. Please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post. https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/ It's highly unlikely that custom content would cause a BSOD, at least directly; Sims 4 itself might do so, although only if your computer has some other problem that the game triggers or exacerbates.

@robbxe I suppose it's possible but not likely. I've never seen it happen myself. The best way to test to make sure is to move your entire Mods folder somewhere else and remove it from your game and try it without mods. If it still crashes, it's not the mods.It might be best to try a game repair in origin and check out your graphic settings, they might be too high.

Ive attached my dxdiag here - i updated windows recently and it seems to have started after i updated to the newest version, unsure if that would have anything to do with it

@robbxe You definitely have a number of BSODs listed, all with the same error code, and not related to Sims 4 in any obvious way. Please open a File Explorer window, type C:\Windows\Minidump into the address bar, copy the last two or three dump files, and paste them on your desktop. (Crtl-c to copy; you won't be able to drag and drop.) From there, you can zip them together, upload them to a free filesharing site, and drop the link here.

I installed it, restarted my laptop and it crashed again in under an hour

@robbxe Please also install the touchpad driver. This is different from, and listed immediately above, the firmware update from before.

If you still get crashes, please upload any new minidump files you have to a free filesharing site, and link them here. It's also a good idea to do some hardware monitoring. Download hwinfo from here:

You don't need to install anything if you don't want to—just download the portable version, unzip it, and launch it from your Downloads folder or wherever you like. (If you do want to install, be sure to click the green button, not the orange one.) Restart your computer, open hwinfo, choose "sensors only," and click the icon that's a sheet of paper with a + icon to start logging. Take note of where the log is being saved; if it's easier, just save it to your desktop for easy access.

Wait five minutes, then open Origin and launch the game. Don't open any other apps. Play for 20 minutes or until it crashes. You can stop the logging by clicking on the same icon. Please upload the file to a third-party filehosting site and link it here. Leave the file in .csv format, or else the log reader might not be able to open it. (If you upload it to OneDrive, please zip it first.)
