EA App not working on Windows 10

The last time I was able to launch either the app or sims was 4 July 2025.  Since then, the app will not launch from the desktop icon or self-launch unless triggered by an ongoing event.  On the rare occasion that an event triggers a launch of the app, launching Sims 4 will initiate the launch process but the game immediately crashes and takes the app with it.  Never to be seen again.

There are no such problems, or any problems, on Windows 11

Am wondering if EA made a change to the app's coding so that it no longer operates properly on Windows 10.

Windows 10 Is supported till october 14 2025 the app worked for me on windows 10 did you Try the EA app Recovery Feature ?

  • OldeSimsFan  Please uninstall the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  Use the Advanced scanning method when asked.  Restart your computer, download a fresh copy of the App installer, and run it as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."

If this doesn't help, let me know what you see when you try to open the App, including if you restart your computer after reinstalling the App and try to open it again.

  • Thank you both!  Will try easiest option first.  EA app recovery feature?

The latest wrinkle - yesterday & today - is that on the rare occasions the app auto launches the Sims 4 blue launch arrow is greyed out, implying that a game I can't launch is already running.

    Thank you,

  • williamabo, if you meant the thing hiding in the 3 lines in the top left that I just found, was told I had to close the game first.  Which I didn't open, have no access to, so can't close.  Looks like something is seriously broken.

Am beginning to wonder if this brokenness is related to my entire library on the Gallery tab being eliminated.  A massive overall TS4 and app failure.

  • This has been an adventure.  Did the Revo uninstaller.  Got and ran the app installer, which then said the app was already installed (?)  Only option was to repair.  Restarted the computer as directed.  Now absolutely nothing works.  The TS4 desktop icon says that Origin is missing so it won't work.  The EA icon says there is no connection.  Same response from down in the programs list.

  • OldeSimsFan  Try a Revo uninstall again, and if you get the option to repair, choose it and then run Revo immediately afterwards.  And if you use a third-party antivirus, disable it while doing this.  As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe.

The fact that Revo couldn't find the app but the installer did suggests something is breaking the app soon after it's installed.  An antivirus is a good possibility but not the only one.

If this doesn't help either, restart your computer and delete the EA Desktop folder inside C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts.  If you get a message that you can't because something is open already, kill anything EA-related in the Task Manager, including in the background processes list.  Then reinstall the App.

Every time, run the App installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."

williamabo  Using the Steam version wouldn't get around the requirement to use the EA App and could only complicate things further.
