Whenever I cancel an action in my sims queue they don't actually cancel. The queued action will get a white X over it, the sim will stop what they are doing for a second, then the X disappears and the sim continues to do the task I am trying to cancel. This mostly happens on freewill tasks such as getting leftovers out of fridge. It is very annoying when my sims don't listen to me.
Are you using mods in your game ? If so, please remove them

Could you start a new save game for testing purposes to see if you have the same issue on a fresh game as well or if it's save game related.
Sorry for the slow response, work has taken much of my time this week.
Have tested with another save for a few hours and the same thing happens. They are all disobedient sims!

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.
Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.
The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Have been testing throughout the past few days after doing what you suggested and the issue is still there.
Another example would be that I had a sim decide he wants to play the computer but I didnt want him to do that as his work carpool would be here soon. I cancelled the action but he still went to the computer, sat down and started playing and the X disappeared! He then was late to work cause he wouldnt stop playing the computer.
I have been using resetsim to clear the queues when it happens.. It doesn't happen often but every now and then.
And this is also happening on a new save game for testing purposes ?
It happens on all games, new or old.
it just happened again when my sim decided to go to bed - he for some reason chose to not go to his bed. I cancelled the action and the X appeared on it but he walked all the way down into the basement and to the other bed and the action didnt disappear.
Do you have any lastexception files ?
