did you put the cas.fulleditmode cheat first (including testingcheats) ?

i hope that you can answer this as soon as possible!
i have written:
testingcheats true
cas.fulleditmode
Then i shift click my sim and then click 'Modify in CAS' (there is no 'Edit in CAS' button!)
When i try to change the sims traits, age, voice and gender it says cannot edit a preexisting sim
Pls tell me what i am doing wrong!
