Cannot load families

After the update, i tried to load my previous families but they won’t load. I’m told I have to choose an expansion pack instead of choosing willow creek or something. Willow creek and others are not even available for choosing.  When trying to create a new family and placing it in a world it gets stuck on a loading screen. Help!
