I do not have any antivirus software installed apart from Windows Defender.
Following your suggestion, I deleted the Sims folder in Documents, but this caused the game to crash unexpectedly. It also showed an error saying I had run out of memory, which seemed strange because I can still run other high-graphics games without any issues.
So, I went back to Windows Defender, added both the main game folder and the Saves folder to the exclusion list—and that seems to have resolved the problem.
It might be related to a recent Windows update. The last time I played, on 29 April 2025, everything was working fine.
Anyway, thank you everything is working now.

kotrakool Please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet, not even from the Gallery; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If this doesn't help, please let me know what antivirus you use.
