Can't buy any items in buy mode

Issue

When I try and buy an item in buy mode the game says i have insufficient funds, which is not the case. There is an empty business fund image over my family funds and I do not have a business nor have i tried making one. All of the items (except for free ones) are in red.

Steps you took for Issue to occur
Went into buy mode tried to buy anything.

Where does the bug occur ?

It only happens in one specific saved game.

Mods/CC

I only have one mod and have removed it temporarily to see if it was causing the issue.

Expansion Packs/Game Packs/Stuff Packs

Get Together, Get to Work, Dine Out, Spa Day, Outdoor retreat, kids room stuff

Occurring since

I noticed when I went to place an item on 7/20/2016 after purchasing kids room stuff, however, it could have occurred before I purchased the stuff pack

Operating system

Windows 7

Could be that the mod borked your save.

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Okay, I reset my user files to the factory reset, Afterwards, I tested the game without adding anything back in the results of that were good so I proceeded to add back in my saves. When I launched the problem saved game the issues came back up. I've included a screenshot this time around of the issue.

Willing to share your save game ?

If so, please zip up this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\saves, upload to mediafire or dropbox and PM me the link.

Thank you for providing me with your save.

I was able to duplicate and fix your issue.

This is a variation of this bug: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4-Bug-Reports/TO-ADD-WORKAROUND-Can-t-change-lot-type/td-p/5112129/jump-to/first-unread-message

I've updated my post here: http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2016/06/cant-change-lot-type/ to include your case. It seems it happens if you actually live on that lot that turns into a generic lot.

I don't know the cause of this but at least you can fix it by following the steps given.

Let me know if you have any issues.
