arjaygee You should be able to run the game in DirectX 11 mode, but you may need to repair after removing your mods, depending on which mods you had installed. In the EA App, click Sims 4 > Manage > Repair; in Steam, right-click Sims 4 and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of the game files.
If that doesn't help, the issue may be your older graphics driver. You can get the newest driver Intel has provided for your graphics chip here:

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart after instaling and before trying to play.

Thanks. I've already tried a repair. I'll take a look at the graphics driver situation.
Update: Updating my graphics driver did not resolve the issue. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sadly, upgrading my graphics driver didn't help. I can still only play under DX9 with script mods turned off.
