Can't manage employees in restaurant?

So I just built a restaurant in sims 4 .I have no mods, no cheats. I have my employees, and the game recognizes I own the restaurant. However, if I click on my employees, it has either normal interaction options, or I can only interact with them as if I'm a customer. This is frustrating bc I can't manage them, I can't train them, and I can't get perk points. It's like I don't own the restaurant. What do I do?
