Hello! Hopefully someone can help me out. This all started last night, I was really excited for the new update (the Day of the Dead themed update) everything went smoothly like usual, updates don't take long on my computer but then suddenly it just kinda froze, at the installation. Downloading went by quickly, but then the update simply would not install and I couldn't cancel or nor close out origin, so I restarted my computer. After that I could no longer open origin OR the sims, I'd click to open either one and nothing would happen, so I decided to give it a break. This morning origin opened, then closed out right when I tried to open sims (which didn't open either), running as an administrator worked but it still wouldn't let me open sims, then I noticed the 'repair' option, in hopes this would fix my problems. It didn't, now it says that my Sims 4 is installing and it's been like that for a while now and I cannot cancel it. What do I do? I don't want to risk the possibility of my beloved households being deleted. ☹️ (I also have Get to work, Get Together, Outdoor Retreat and Dine out, and the Movie Hangout stuff pack if that matters at all)

UPDATE: Repairing my game worked, it just took an extremely long time to repair (Not sure why since I have a fairly quick PC) Repairing my game also fixed my previous problems of Sims 4 not opening along with origin, and my households are safe! So if you have the same problem as me, just repair your game, it worked for me. Hopefully it does for you!

Try cleaning the Origin cache: http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/delete-origin-cache-files/

After that try updating or repairing the game.

Did you read the webpage I send you? They are also hidden, so you need to unhide them first.

The files to delete can be found here:

C:\ProgramData\Origin — Everything except for the following sub directory: DO NOT DELETE: C:\ProgramData\Origin\LocalContent

Origin folder in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\

Origin folder in C:\Users\ <username> \AppData\Roaming\

UPDATE:

Repairing my game also fixed my previous problems of Sims 4 not opening along with origin, and my households are safe! So if you have the same problem as me, just

repair your game, it worked for me. Hopefully it does for you!

my sims 4 doesn't even let me get to the part of beginning the update. In the bottom corner it tells me that the update is completed for sims 4, however when i go to launch it, it only gives me the option to update it. And when i do press to update. it says that theirs an issue and to try restarting the app or come to the support page. I've tried turning my PC on and off again and still the same thing. I've restarted the app. same thing. so now i'm here. what do i do?
(i have cats and dogs and discover university. i don't know if that matters)

update lol. i read your other comments where u say it worked repairing it. ive just tried, it gets to 14% and says download error. is my sims 4 just broken ?

Same! Worked fine last night. I have been trying to install ea app again, App recovery, run app as admin. Nothing seems to work

i've got this exact same issue. I've tried:
- restarting ea
- clearing ea cache
- run as admin
- restarting laptop
- uninstalling/reinstalling ea
it won't let me try repairing the game because it says 'download failed' whenever i try
i tried to talk to the helpline and email but their dropdown boxes wouldn't work and that's required info so it wouldn't let me send the queries. i only managed to send a troubleshooting report and idk if that'll get noticed or anything
