Can't uninstall Sims 4 from either EA, Windows settings, or Epic games

As title states, I've tried all the ways, also the app appears with a strange name in the windows installed apps sections- once it was a mix of strange letters (chinese and others), now it's just the number 6. Screenshot attached.

The game is still playable, no error message, when I try to uninstall through the EA app via Manage > Uninstall, the EA app simply ignores it. It says Uninstalling for one second and then stops.

In addition, I've tried clearing cache in the app, didn't change anything. I've tried restarting the machine.

  • @Eliad_K  I don't see this issue often but have before, perhaps a handful of times.  It shouldn't be difficult to address.

As for why "EA" hasn't responded, this is a player-help-player forum.  The site does have a number of EA community managers spread out across the various categories, but they're primarily here to keep the forum in good conditon and its users following the rules, not to provide tech support.  EA customer support is an entirely different outfit.

  • @Eliad_K  Try using Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) to remove Sims 4.  You might need to scroll through the list of apps to find it since it's not listed as "The Sims 4" in your screenshot.  If that doesn't work, manually delete the folder and use Piriform's CCleaner (the free version is also fine) to remove any leftover registry entries.

I can try, is this a common issue in your experience?

I find it odd that EA hasn't even bothered to respond

    Many thanks.

As an update- I've used revo to remove some of the registries and all of the files. Only then was I able to uninstall via the EA application, and the sims is now gone.

I appreciate the "player helps player" mentality- however I find it obscene that a large company like EA, with a game like the Sims, can allow for a bug like this to exist (that further requires the user to install third party software to repair).

That said- you are much appreciated, Puzzleaddict, couldn't do it without you!
