cas crashing frequently

after I finish editing  sim in cas and click done, the game abruptly closes back to desktop with no error.  this has happened about 70% (3-4 times) of the time i have used cas since the update since the update, so the game is almost unplayable for me right now.

more details: the first few times this happened was when i was editing townies in cas with shift-click, and one of those times i did have cas.fulleditmode on. However, the most recent time was editing my active sim in cas via the mirror with only bb.moveobjects on. i have successfully edited 1-2 townies, nothing obviously different. each time the pattern of the crash is the same - initiates on 'done' and closes to desktop. 

game setup: no cc or mods but i do have a slightly unusual setup - i run the ea app and ts4 on my steam deck via lutris. i know this isn't an officially supported setup but im reporting this anyway because it seems more like a game issue.
