princess_g6252 Please test with no mods or custom content, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. You don't need to save your progress, but it's important to find out whether this is the source of the problem.
If that doesn't help, try a different household within this save, and a new household in a new save (with nothing downloaded from the Gallery or added from your Library), for comparison's sake.
If the new save has the same issue, please provide a dxdiag. Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
