Crashing while loading household

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? The game opens fine, it lets me select the household I want to play, but on the plumbob loading screen it hiccups and just crashes before it actually loads the household.
What happens when the bug occurs? The plumbob seems to have a bit of a snagged look on its spin and then the game crashes and shuts down automatically immediately afterward. I get a popup that says the game stopped working properly and then it just closes down.
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to load my household to play the game, but it just quits on the loading screen.

Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I deleted all of my mods and it still did what I described above. The same spot, the same situation.
Origin Launcher runs at 32-bit, even though I'm running a 64-bit computer. Not sure if that has anything to do with anything at all. I'm not sure if the game is running 32-bit, but if that's the problem and I have to download Legacy Edition to get it running again so be it, but if it's something else I'd like to know.
