Hello, my gallery in the sims 4 isn't working. All thumbnails are blank with a red cross. When i try to open something, it says "could not load this item". I've been researching for an hour now and I've tried:
- deleting all cache files from the Sims 4 folder
- deleting all cache files from origin, just like EA advised
- repairing the game in Origin
- Disabling and removing ALL mods and custom content
- restarting Origin and computer several times
- turned off file and web shield on my antivirus program, its not blocking any websites or files
- probably more
and it still isn't working. to add to that, whenever i try to turn allow mods on, it doesnt work. whenever i start the game again it says they're disabled no matter how much i try.
I solved this issue myself, I will say what I did in case anyone else needs help. If you use Avast antivirus, open it, click on "Protection", then "Ransomware shield", depending on what version you are using there should be an option to turn on and off smart mode. If this is on, click on the cogwheel (for me it's located on the right), where you will see the option for smart mode. Click "View allowed/blocked apps", click "allow app", then add the Sims 4.
The Sims 4 did not automatically show up for me, so i clicked on "select app path", went into my sims 4 folder, then Game > Bin > TS4_x64. clicked it, then added it. then my gallery worked.
