I deleted the localthumbcache file and it deleted everything from my game, so I'm going to reset my system to a time before i deleted these files.
I also went through the OneDrive and the game to see what file the game was reading, and it's a OneDrive file that I no longer have access to. I'm trying to find a way to change what files the game is reading from or figuring out where I need to put the files for the game to read them without damaging my saves/game data. I stopped OneDrive from syncing the files just in case that might be causing the problem as well.
@AverageGamerGrl For how to get Sims out of OneDrive, head to this toptc: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-saves-user-content-disappearing-PC/td-p/12475370
Deleting localthumbcache doesn't delete anything from the game. What it does is delete the temporary memory of mods, CC, what Sims look like in that bottom left corner, etc., so the game goes to look again at what it should actually be loading. If you removed the Mods folder, it will now see that you removed the Mods folder, which is intentional. Just don't save like that!
- 2 years ago@luthienrising I moved my files from one OneDrive account to another and I believe it "reset" my game because now the game won't read them from the OneDrive account I want the game to. Idk how to change where the game reads the files from.
Also, what you said would occur from deleting the localthumbcache happened. So how can I get the game to now see the mods/cc I want it to see?- luthienrising2 years agoHero+
@AverageGamerGrl For OneDrive support with Sims 4, head over to https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-saves-user-content-disappearing-PC/td-p/12475370. The first page there has a how-to on getting your Sims files away from OneDrive without having them not be seen by the game.
Deleting localthumbcache clears the game's memory of mods so it will re-see the folder. To get the game to see them again, you most likely need to deal with the file location being where the game can see it without that location being inside OneDrive. The thread above has a couple of options: the easy one of removing all your Documents folder from OneDrive and the more complex one of moving just Sims stuff from it. The support folks there have lots of experience with this and can help you with it.
- 2 years ago@luthienrising I followed the thread and I was able to get my sims, saves, and content back. But, now, none of my cc/mods are being read by the game so I'm confused. I unsynced everything from OneDrive so I'm not sure what the problem could be now.
