Customers don't buy item once rung up

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs, all game packs. Stuff packs: My First Pet Stuff, Laundry Day Stuff, Toddler Stuff, Fitness Stuff, Vintage Glamour Stuff, Movie Hangout Stuff, Cool Kitchen Stuff, Perfect Patio Stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Own a retail store, have customers and employees on the lot, get a customer to want to purchase something, and select "Ring up customer".
What happens when the bug occurs? When I try to ring up customers, sometimes the customer will be rung up and I will get the retail perk points indicating I sold something, but the customer will then leave, not having purchased an item and no money being given. This did not happen when it was just my Sim running the store, but started happening after hiring two employees & after more and more customers started showing up. They're both assigned to Answer Questions, and then I have my Sim ring them up. Sometimes restarting the game will fix it, other times it won't.
What do you expect to see? When I ring up the customer, I should get the retail perk points, a notification for which item the customer bought, and the money required for their purchase.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No
I'm not sure if this started happening because I hired 2 employees, if it started happening because I have them both assigned to Answer Questions, or if it started happening because of the sheer number of customers on the lot. I was using mods, but even removing them all does not fix this.
EDIT: Additionally, I just attempted to assign my employees to ring up customers, and they won't do it, they just stand there even when there are customers ready to be rung up.
