Have to shut my laptop down to get out of frozen main menu

Hi everyone. I am at a loss. I haven’t been able to play for months because my game will not load. I load the game, it takes 30 minutes to load. I cant move my mouse while it is loading. As soon as I get to the load screen it freezes completely and I usually have to turn off my laptop.

When it is on the load screen in order to get it to the main screen I have to hit the windows button on my keyboard, go out of the game and then click on the icon in my task bar. That is the only way it will go from the load screen to the main page. If I want to go into 'options' I have to use my touch screen to click on it, hit the windows key to exit, then reenter the game from the task bar and it will show the options menu. I have to do the same thing every time I want to hit anything in options. My mouse does not work while in the game. 

A few things to note:

*I am playing on a PC I have used for years with no issues

*I don’t have a single mod or CC installed

*I have repaired the game

*it has been updated

*I uninstalled and reinstalled the game

*I have almost 30gb free on my laptop and that is more than I have had free in years and I never had an issue before

*I have a microsoft surface 3 and have played for 5 years with no issues

I appreciate any ideas anyone has. Tia!

    kalea1234567890​  The issue may be that you're playing on a Surface.  Please try changing the two settings in this post from bibliomak:

    Sims 4 Crashing/Freezing/Lag, Surface Pro 3/7 | EA Forums - 11836525

    If that doesn't help, try playing with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi before pressing Play.

    While troubleshooting in general, it may help to force the game to load in windowed mode—at the very least, you should be able to interact with the Task Manager or reach other buttons on the screen.  Open Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).
