Delays in sims' work hours

I have this issue and I don't use mods or cc. It is now affecting my sims going to university class on time as well. Currently my sim is supposed to start work at 8am and then class at 9.30am and 11am. I get the notification she has work in 1 hour after 9am and then she doesn't get the option to go to her first class until after 11am.

    Sims work Time Glitch

    I have all packs

This happens now 100% of the time

    Version 1.58.63.1010

Sims get a notification that work starts in 1 hour up to 2 hours after their designated start time, when they finally go to work they then don't come home when work is suppose to finish, they come home anywhere up to 13 hours late usually with tanked needs. eg, Sims start time is 8am, between 10am and 11am they get the notification that work starts in 1 hour. They will head to work sometime within an hour from that point. The sims shift is suppose to finish at 4pm, the green bar circle that tells you how long to go in that activity is usually around half way, and the sim won't return for several hours after this. Their needs are way down. If you choose to bring them home early their performance takes a hit and they can get the a bad moodlet about not doing well at work.

This happens with children and school although haven't had them take quite as long to come home, its usually about 2 or 3 hours for them.

It also happens with university classes. Sim is suppose to got to class at 9.30 till 10.55 and then 11 till 12.25, they get the notification that class starts in 1 hour for the first class about the time the second class is supposed to start, they will then go to the first class at about 11 till 11.30 and be in class till about 1, then go to the next class and are there till about 3.

Its making it impossible to play the game if I want my sims to go to school, university or have any job.

I first noticed it after seasons came out and it would only do it sometimes and no where near as extreme. After the patch before university it got a lot worse. Even save files that had been fine previously started doing it.

I have repaired my game numerous times, taken all my save files out and uninstalled and reinstalled the game and started again from scratch, and it is still doing it.

  • @blakkrose  That's a great description; thanks for all the detail.  I split your posts into their own thread and renamed the thread, to make things easier.

First of all, is the time on your computer set correctly?  If you're not sure how accurate it is, you can let it sync with internet time, or de-sync and re-sync it.

There's nothing obvious in your dxdiag that would account for the lag, although there are a few small issues.  You do have Windows several update failures, even though your OS build is not so far behind overall.  Please manually look for updates:  Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the screen, select Settings > Updates & Security, and click the button to check for updates.  If there are a number of them, you might have to do this a few times to make sure they all run.

When you say you started from scratch, do you mean you tried to play in a clean game folder and got the same result?  If you haven't tried this already, please do so now.  Remove your entire Sims 4 game folder from Documents\Electronic Arts and launch the game, which will create a clean folder with no content.  Don't put anything back in it, just start a new save and mess around a bit to see whether the work hours line up now.

If none of this helps, let us know.

Yes I meant I had taken out all of my saved games and created a new save file with no other save files installed.

I have spent the last 2 days clicking through and installing all updates and it now tells me that my computer is up to date when I ask it to check for updates.

I have also taken off the automatic time adjustment off for 24 hours and then turned it back on to automatic time adjustment and got the clock to sync.

I have tried multiple times after various stages of this process and as well as once it was all done to see if it was making any difference to the glitch, all with a single new save file to test, but unfortunately it has not solved the glitch. It has helped with the loading screens slightly but unfortunately has not taken away the glitch.

  • I have also repaired my game through origin and made sure that was up to date as well

Ok so I followed the instructions on your link and played the sims and that helped. So what do I do now? Do I leave those things that I disabled in the clean boot instructions disabled?

@blakkrose  Something running alongside the game is causing the lag, and the question is what.  So you can undo the clean boot, restart your computer, open only Origin and Sims 4, and test to see whether the lag is back.  If the game runs normally, great—just don't open the apps you usually run while playing.

If the lag is back, you'll need to experiment with the clean boot process.  Try turning off half the processes (be sure to keep track of which ones) and see how it goes.  If the lag is gone, the problem is one of the apps you disabled, and if the lag is still there, it's one that you didn't disable.  Split the remaining batch in half and test again, narrowing it down until you've found the problem.  Even with a long list, this 50/50 method shouldn't take too long.
