Disorientated Sound on Sims 4

I posted before and got no response so I'm trying again...

For the last two months, I've been having to deal with this issue of my sound not sounding right. The sims, music, clicking around, etc.

Today I spent my whole afternoon uninstalling my game and reinstalling it. I removed my mods and custom content and started it up.

But it STILL is sounding like some sort of robot.

Example Video <-- here's a video I took and posted to my twitter account.

My game is up to date. My origin is up to date. I have no idea what else to do.

I play on Windows 10.

I have all packs and add ons but the star wars one.

All I want to do is play sims 4 again. ☹️

@puzzlezaddict Sure, here's my dxdiag. I also discovered that the audio is fixed briefly if I have the Audio Focus option off in the Sims 4, then use the "Troubleshoot Audio Issues" option on windows 10 in the background-- it will play the test tone, and fix the issue, but it will return again a few minutes later.

@ectobiologiist  There's a new audio driver available for your laptop:

    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/g-series-15-3500-laptop/drivers

It's worth installing it to see whether it helps.  If it doesn't, try disabling Nahimic: I think your laptop comes with it already installed, and it doesn't always work well with Sims 4.  You can just kill it in the Task Manager; it'll open again the next time you restart your computer.

If that doesn't help, try playing in a clean boot:

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-clean-boot-windows-10

After you reboot, go through the Task Manager's background processes list and shut down any app that doesn't absolutely need to be running.  For example, anything with the word Nvidia in it is critical, at least if you're planning to launch a game, but Dell's Alienware Command Center is not.  Some tasks that should be disabled in a clean boot end up running anyway, so it's important to double-check.

  • Has anyone manage to discover what it is? I'm having the same problem
