Not able to update Sims 4

There should be an update available for the Sims 4 regarding the pregnancies and dragging of dishes, but when I open my EA app, there's no update available. I can start the game without problems, but the pregnancies are still gone and I can't drag any dishes towards the bin.

I already tried repairing the game, clearing out the cache of the EA app and even launching the EA updater itself. Until now all the earlier updates came through and I could install those without problems.

Is there any way to force the newest update after all?

Many thanks in advance!

  • LiseAC  Repairing the game should have given you the updated version.  Did the repair go through, and did you test afterwards?  If you did, and you still don't see version 1.116.232 in the lower-left corner of the Main Menu, delete GameVersion.txt, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and look again.

  • My game is currently stuck at game version 1.113.297.1220 DX11. On the EA app it I have seen the game update and it says update complete but the game version won't change. I have cleared the cache of the EA app. I have updated the actual EA app from EA Updater Exe. I have repaired my sims game and even uninstalled and reinstalled it. I took out all of my mods too. I don't know what else to do or how to fix it.

Also every time I look into Game Version text document it is just random characters.

    The game is unplayable.

If anyone can help it would really, really be appreciated!

After deleting the game version and loading up again the version is still the same.  A new game version has loaded up but it says the same stuff.

  • RMA5678  Is there a Default.ini file in ConfigOverride, inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4?  If so, remove it.  It sounds like your game IS updated but that something is making it report the wrong version.  And you also shouldn't see both .1220 (which is the Mac version) and DX11 (which is a Windows runtime) at the same time, which also makes me think some other file is holding onto old data.

    It's fixed!

    Thank you so much!

I used to I have Mac but I recently switched over to Windows, that could possibly explain the .1220 and DX11.

Thank you so much, it's fixed!

The repair seemed fine yesterday, but to be certain I did it again before trying your other option, and now the game shows the right version and the problems seem also solved when trying it out.
Thank you for the trouble, it was simple in the end, but I might've not tried repair once more and would've been stuck a bit longer.

Happy you could help us both 😊.
