Distorted, Monster-like Sims

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.76.81.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All, except - Journey to Batuu, Strangerville, Vampires, Paranormal, My first pet stuff, Romantic garden, Spooky, Luxury Party
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Unsure. It occurs when I visit another household
What happens when the bug occurs? One sim (usually the toddler) displays with spiny arms and legs and no head. The upper body waves in the air.
What do you expect to see? A normal looking sim
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

At first I thought this affected non-household toddlers only, but I just ended a game where a non-household teenager looked the same way when I visited. I repaired the game this morning and encountered the distorted teen this afternoon. I also had this issue in 2014, around the time of glitched babies (monster babies) but with townies. The issue with adult townies appeared to be fixed with a patch. I have no CC, and no mods in either iterations. I have downloaded player-made houses from the gallery.

In 2014, I played on a laptop. Now, I am on a desktop with the following specs:

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 8-core Processor

ROG Strix B450F

16GB Ram

Windows 10 Pro

No screenshot available as this weirds me out and I can't look at it beyond the first glance.

  • @sfm09 I moved your post to the tech forum for now.

Hopefully it stays this way. Let me know if the issue comes back.

    @sfm09

It means that you would need the password to unlock the system if you have set one.

In Windows10 you can set a system pin above the password so you can unlock the system with a relatively easy and fast to be entered pin.

But that pin is not working in save mode.

If you don't have a password set you don't have to worry about that, the system will be unlocked as soon as you boot into save mode.

@crinrict  Whoops.  It's possible I've seen a stretched toddler but it wasn't permanent.

I just looked at my chat and here's my nightmare fuel baby, though.  Like I said, CAS made her a normal (cute!) toddler.

Does that look like what you were seeing, @sfm09 ?

@crinrict I've tested the game for about 12 hours and I haven't encountered the issue again since applying your suggestion. I'd like to think it has been solved (hopefully! crosses fingers) but I'll keep monitoring. Thanks for all your help!

  • more nightmare fuel if screenshots are helping... mine is a little different than the other one posted, but it sounds like op's issue: I loaded into a neighbor's lot and their kiddo was out front looking like slenderman. First she was stretched to child height (and looking this horrifying), then she started walking towards the house and stretched to ADULT height in the same form. Resetting her shortened her, but i had to shift-click my way into CAS and then back out again (it put me into the toddler's household; not sure if that made the difference) before she appeared normal. 0/10 hated it
