Do I have to pay for an EA account to play the Sims 4?

As the title says. I just got a renewal notice for my EA account and frankly I'm not sure why I'm paying for this.

Hello @AmaraRena,

are you talking about a renewal for EA Play? If so, the subscription is not needed to play Sims 4, as the base game is free at this point.
