Download for Sims 4 will take 12 hours?!? is this 1997?

I have been trying to play my new game (Sims 4),  I started this task at 10pm and it's now 12:30 am and my game is now only 2% done. It's telling me that it's going to take 12 hours to download. Are you kidding me? Is this 1997????? I do not understand why I can't just put the disk in the computer and play the game. I am very frustrated. Why is this going to take forever?? Is there another way to get this done faster. I understand downloads can take a several minutes but 12 hours!?! I won't even be downloaded before the 24 hour guarentee is over. This is just very frustrating and this will probably be the last game I buy from EA!

    Hello,

    The download files for The Sims 4 are altogether quite large, and the speed at which they can be downloaded is dependent on the speed of your internet connection. If you have a slower internet speed, then the files will take longer to download. One thing you can do is turn off any other devices using the internet, and any applications that are using the internet on your computer in order to try and speed up the download.

    The Origin Great Game Guarantee can be used either within seven days of purchase or within 24 hours of actually running the game (so starts the moment you open the game, and not when you start downloading or installing), so you would still be covered.
