EA App will not let me type more than nope, yep and darn!

I do not understand why mine alone is doing this. IF EA has decided to take chat away from me for some reason, I would have to have warned. I took my old version of the app and replaced it with a brand new version. Did not help. 

Any suggestion is more than welcome.
