I was able to do the patch update and play my game fine two days ago. Now the EA App is asking me to download my entire Sims 4 game and gives me a "you don't have access" message when I try to start my game from the desktop icon. I've restarted the app and my laptop multiple times with no change.
These kind of issues usually appear for no reason and they disappear for no reason too! It happened to me, but before the last patch. I do suggest you the following steps before trying something more complicated:
1. Closing and reopening the EA app
2. Clearing cache: EA app window > click in the top, on the left > Help > App recovery > Clear cache
3. Restarting the computer. If it does not work the 1st and 2nd step once again
