This method worked for me: Go up to top left hand corner, click go offline, then click go online and it fixed for me.
My Sims 4 game won't update or play?
When I open my EA app, my Sims 4 game says update required. I click update, the download manager goes through the 'Finalizing/downloading' motions, etc, and then it says Update Complete. When I go to open the game though, the update button is still there?
The first few times this happened, a window appeared saying I couldn't use the game as it may have been downloaded by someone else (not possible - it's only me!) but now I'm just stuck in the update loop.
I've signed out, restarted, etc, and still no change.
Any ideas? :/

Clearing [EA app] cache: EA app window > click in the top, on the left > Help > App recovery > Clear cache
