EA says Sims 4 is already playing, but it's not.

I haven't played Sims 4 in quite some time, but since finding out it was free, I thought I'd try playing again. I re-downloaded the game and all of my DLC content and made sure it was all updated through the EA app, but when I go to launch the game, it'll flash and then nothing happens. When I try again, it says the game is already playing. ALT+CTRL+DELETE and it doesn't show it's running there either.

Tried restarting the EA app, nothing. Restart the computer? Nope, same problem. How about I repair the game? Still won't work. EA keeps showing there's a connection error to the servers each time I open it as well but my internet is fine...

I'm running on Windows 10, Nvidia GTX 1650 Super with 32 gigs of Ram and 1 TB of hard drive space with a 250g SSD.

Any suggestions?

Oh ffs. OK, I got it working. I'm an idiot. I was playing Animal Crossing via emulator, manually changed the time to fast forward it, forgot to set it back. Apparently that was the issue. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Thanks for helping, I'm just a dumbarse hahahaha!

  • @IdaliaMay  Please force the EA App to update.  Go here:

    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop

And run the EAUpdater.exe.  Then let me know whether the EA App itself is loading as normal.  If not, stop there and let me know what you see.

Otherwise, try to launch Sims 4.  If you get the same error, let me know what antivirus you use, and whether OneDrive is running on this computer.

Thanks for coming in to help. So... I went into the files for a forced update, and it came up with a window saying it's already up to date. I opened the EA app again just to check it, comes up with the same connection error. What I forgot to mention is that it doesn't stay that way, it usually blanks out then the home screen comes on within... Eh, 15 to 30 seconds or so? But every time I open the app it starts with a connection error. But despite that, tried to start Sims, and it still says that it's running already. Quick note: if the EA app is shut down while Sims is playing (it working normally in this instances) would it also shut down the game? Just curious because even after restarting the app entirely, still shows Sims is already playing.

Anyway, ummm I just have the standard windows security, and I'm pretty sure that's it... I think lol?? I don't know a lot about virus and malware protection and I'm also really lazy about it. As for OneDrive, it's available on my computer but I don't have it set up or activated or anything.
