@MarnieLuna  The base game and all your packs are owned by your Origin account, so you can install them for free on as many computers as you like.  Your saves, households, builds, etc. need to be manually transferred, but this isn't too complicated even when switching between macOS and Windows.

The best approach would be to install the game, launch it once to create a new user folder (the one in Documents\Electronic Arts), and then move or copy your old files into their proper locations in the new folder.  Mods often need to be redownloaded, but saves and library items are usually fine.  For the transfer itself, the easiest way is probably to upload the files you want to keep to a cloud storage account (you can get a few GB of storage for free on any number of sites) and then download onto the new computer.

For the laptop itself, feel free to come back and ask for specific recommendations when you're ready to buy.

And I totally understand how you feel about your Mac.  I still have my 2010 15" MacBook Pro, which held up wonderfully until I finally got a new one not quite two years ago.  They're great computers.
