I made a lot of changes to my sim's appearances for her wedding by Editing in CAS. Not all the changes I made in CAS were using Mods. Some were regular edits that came with the original game (non-custom contents). After I clicked the check-mark (the save button), the sim back in the live-game looks exactly the same as before I edited in CAS. I really hope the edited sim who I clicked the check-mark for is saved somewhere and is retrievable?Restarting the game did not help. Disabling then enabling Mods again did not help. I do not want to Start a New Game or create another sim to replace the existing sim. This issue is not isolated to this one sim and is not isolated to certain Mods. This issue applies to all Mods from various sources and to all non-custom/non-mods contents.

Try removing all your mods (move them all to another folder for now), deleting "localthumbcache.package" (had the wrong file name before, sorry!) in the Sims 4 Folder in Documents, and then testing with a vanilla save? (You don't have to give up your current save, but make sure to name the test save something else!)

Thank you. I would try StarryMight's suggestion but fear that moving all my mods elsewhere then move them back after and delete/rename localthumbnail.cache (mine's called localthumbcache.package) might cause permanent unwanted changes (e.g. once I move all the mods back they won't appear anymore).

HI @pinksapphire10 mods get outdated with patches though and you need to make sure everything is still working with the current patch level. Try a backup of your save game to find out which of your mods potentially cause the issue, then when you found them, check for updates. @pinksapphire10 : Don't worry, you have nothing to worry about as far as that's concerned. 🙂Deleting the localthumbcache.package (which makes the game generate a new one when you play it; sorry I had the wrong name before, I was going by memory both times) is good practice whenever you add, remove, update, or change mods so that nothing is stuck in memory in your game that can cause problems.

Edits in CAS (including Mods and Non-Mods) are not saved after clicking Save

mods get outdated with patches though and you need to make sure everything is still working with the current patch level.

Try a backup of your save game to find out which of your mods potentially cause the issue, then when you found them, check for updates.

Thanks StarryMight. After I replicated your steps, in Edit in CAS I updated with only non-customs/non-mods, like basic hair style and dress that came with the original game. After I clicked the check-mark, non of the updates were reflected in the live game. Looks like I am with the same problem. :/

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)

Tray Folder

Screenshots/Videos/Custom music

Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)

Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....

Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

I'm having this issue as well and I don't use mods or cc. I got to edit with " cas.fulleditmode" cheat and as soon as I go to another lot etc my Sim goes back to the pre edited version.. I've restarted and repaired game as well.
