I'm having the same problem as well. I noticed that when I went into my Task Manager to End Task my CPU and Memory were operating at upwards of 80-100%. Backup File size are as listed below:
Save: 201,659 kb
Ver0: 15,214 kb
Ver1: 12,814 kb
Ver2: 12,816 kb
Ver3: 12,800 kb
Ver4: 12,802 kb
At least, if I'm looking in the right place (Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/ saves). I'm on Gen 13/14 of a Legacy family and pretty scared to delete save files/restore families at this point.

Yes, and the winterfather (I think that is what he is called) didn't show up and shortly after I think I started having trouble.
After going to the end of the thread, I saw how I could reload an old save, only lost a couple days, but at least I'm back in my legacy game! Thank goodness! Thanks for the help!
