Entire Sims 4 Documents Folder Reset

Hi, I have been using the same Sims 4 save on and off for the last 4 years or so. I tried to log on for the 1st time in a while today only to find all of my progress gone, as if I just opened the game for the 1st time. I have had similar issues before, and resolved them by going to the saves folder under C:\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves and fixed it no problem, but now when I open that folder it says there are 0 saves present. It also removed every one of my mods, and my tray folder is completely empty. The only explanation I can think of is since I moved Origins install location a few days ago and installed the new EA Desktop app, it messed with the Documents folder somehow. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give, as I have poured so many hours into this save and I don't want to see it all be for nothing. Thank you!

  • @SargentSuccc  It's unlikely the Desktop App would have affected your Documents directory in any way, and it certainly hasn't messed with any of my games' user folders.  The more likely culprit is OneDrive, so if it's running on your computer, please check in its version of Documents for any stray Sims 4 files.

If you don't find anything there, you can search your hard drive for the files.  Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and type Slot_ in the search bar in the upper right corner.  This should turn up any saves on your computer.  If the search turns up any saves, click on one, click "Open file location," and you'll land in the folder where your saves are.  Your other content may be there too.

In either case, you can move the stray files back to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, and the game should read them again.
