Error - finish your gaming session

Just started getting the same thing while playing Sims 4. I've had the game going about an hour, owned it since release, now this.

(Cm edit - moved to Sims board for visibility)

Edit: Thanks @puzzlezaddict for telling me about my comment being made into a fresh post. I had no idea it had been moved.

I don't have EA Play. Have owned Sims 4 since release, and most DLC for it. This week while playing Sims4, on two different devices (both PCs), I get a pop-up from the EA App saying that I am past my play time, to save, and come back when it is my play time. I have no play time controls on my EA account (and had none on Origin). It popped up even when not playing anything (all games were closed). At one point, the pop-up said I was 40 hours over my playtime. I did not play Sims4 for 40 hours within a 48-hour period (from the time this pop-up first appeared).

It's not the kind of thing I can screenshot; it's not in-game. Attempting to click on it did nothing.

Shutting down the EA app via Task Manager seems to have solved my problem for now but if I go over "my play time," whatever that may be, I'll probably get the error again. Apparently it's an EA app problem, according to the post I was originally replying to, not a Sims-specific problem. It began within the last few days (around April 30).

  • @Edenza  Playtime tracking is new to the EA App.  I'm not sure why you saw a pop-up about EA Play, the subscription service, if you don't have a sub.  But if you see it again, please take a screenshot and post it.

For the error itself, open the EA App, click the dropdown menu in the upper-left corner, choose Settings, then My playtime, and let me know whether playtime tracking is enabled or disabled.  If enabled, you can try turning it off entirely.  I believe parental accounts can also enable it for any linked child or teen account, in case that's relevant here.

  • @Edenza  Could you provide a bit more context to the error please, for example a screenshot?  Since your post was split into its own thread, I'm not sure what the entire error is or when it's happening, other than that you've been playing for an hour.

Please also let me know whether you've enabled the EA App playtime tracking and limits, even if you're using the "unlimited" setting.

Thanks again. I didn't know my reply had been made into a fresh post. It's an EA issue, not Sims-specific as far as I can see from other posts (like the one I had replied to).

I've not so much as looked at the EA App playtime tracking and limits. Until I began getting this pop-up, I didn't know these options existed in EA. Do a user's account settings default to "unlimited?" The pop-up said that I was using EA Play, which I don't have... unless something changed in the Origin/EA changeover?
