Expansion pack - get to work on steam

My pack won’t work. I’ve just bought it on steam, removed all my mods, changed my downloadning area on steam (and everything else steam recommens). When I open sims 4 and look at my packages, it says that I have to download it for being able to use it. HELP!!! I’ve tried everything, but it won’t work. I’m so sad and angry……..

  • Emmabobber  Is Sims 4 itself installed through Steam or the EA App?  If the App, you'll need to uninstall the game and reinstall it through Steam—packs you own in Steam won't work with an EA App install.  Once you've installed the game through Steam, open the EA App and install any packs you own there, but NOT a second copy of the base game.

Sims 4 is installed at steam like the expansion pack. I haven't used the EA-app. When I enter the EA-app and tries to manage my packages, it says ''manage on steam''. I've tried to buy the same expansion pack on the EA-app, and it won't work on that either....

  • Emmabobber  Please search for the pack itself.  Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel and enter EP01 in the search field in the upper-right corner of the window.  Wait for the search to finish, and expand the windows sideways so you can see the full path to each result (i.e. not just C:\Program Files... but the entire thing).  Use Windows key-shift-S to take a screenshot of the results, and post it here using the camera (Insert Media) icon with the other formatting options.

  • Emmabobber  Right, that looks fine, but perhaps reinstalling the pack would help.  Please delete the EP01 folder directly inside "The Sims 4" (second entry in your results), restart your computer, and download the pack again.  Then see whether it loads in-game.

If not, please let me know whether you've ever had an EA Play subscription.  Get to Work is free with EA Play, and it's possible that if you claimed it, or even the Sims 4 base game, the EA Play entitlement is overriding your standalone copy.

As you can see, I own the pack, but when I try to use it - it says ''download for being able to use''. Under sims 4 at steam, I can see that it is set and downloaded under my DLC's, but it still doesn't want to work. I have deleted the folder as you said, and then restarted my computer. It still doesn't work.

I have never had an EA play subscription.

I have been using the EA-app to play sims 4 basegame before, and I can see that I own the pack on EA aswell, but it says ''Manage on steam'', when I try to manage my add-ons from the EA-app. I have never bought the pack on the EA-app before, only on steam...

  • Emmabobber  Sorry for the late reply.   I meant to come back to this thread but forgot over the weekend.  At any rate, please contact EA customer support to ask if there's anything wrong with your "entitlement" for Get to Work, for example a bad entitlement could override a good one.  That's something only a support rep could fix for you.

I would strongly recommend using the live chat option.  If you don't see it, try this link:

Make sure you're signed into an EA site first, such as ea.com, and that the site's location is set to U.S. or U.K.
