Flashing Blue Icon with Loading Circle? Can't Play My Sims

Okay so recently I bought the sims 4 cats and dogs expansion and ever since or maybe even since the update (as I haven't attempted to play until today), my game refuses to work. Edit world mode works relatively fine; I can build houses, edit them, and place non-cc furniture down. The problem arises when I try to do anything sim related. I try to edit pre-existing sims in edit world mode and I get a randomly generated sim and no trace of the family I'm trying to edit. I select a household to play with and their icon flashes blue with a loading circle as shown in the picture. I hit the play button and nothing happens. I thought it might be my cc so I took it all out, but I kept having the same issue. I also repaired the game and reset my computer to no avail. Please let me know if you know what's happening because I really love this game and I'm very frustrated with the fact that I can't play it, especially when I just bought a new expansion at $39.99

.

  • I cannot take a screenshot of the error but I could but it does say the game failed to load error code 123eb51a6cf:2837eb3e.

I am also experiencing the flashing blue screens after the July update... I've gone back to a previous save, removed all my mods and cc, did repair on origin and have done a factory reset but it's still not working ☹️

Have your game was back to normal in the virgin folder after a factory reset?
If yes or you didn't check this try doing a factory reset in this way
Step 1. Rename The Sims4 folder to "The Sims4 old"
Step 2. Fix the game in Origin
    Origin/Library - right-click on TS4 - option "Repair game"
You have to wait until Origin will fix all packs, not only the base game.
Step 3. Turn on the game - a new game folder will be created and you will have two - one old, one new
Step 4. Check if you still have this problem in the newly created game folder. Start a new game with a random sim and play for 10 minutes.
    If the problem disappeared
Step 5. Delete in the new game folder following folders:
    "saves" and Tray.
Step 6. Go to "The Sims 4 old" folder and copy - your "saves " folder.
Step. 7, Paste this folder in a newly created game folder.
Step 8. Do the same with Tray folder and TrayDeleteItems file. Don't paste in your game another file. Only this - nothing more!

    I don't work for EA

  • For anyone still having this problem, this fixed my issues with the blue boxes. Copied from Rosemow from The Sims Forums:

"Try going to the main screen of sims 4, and click on the " load game " button.Click on your save game file picture. Then click on the " recover game " button down the right hand side bottom of the screen,. Press on an earlier version of the save game from the menu that pops up. Then load that save game version and see if the issue is also in that save game version."
