Frustrating camera on multi-floor buildings

I have been a simmer since day one, version 1. I made the jump from Sims 2 to Sims 4 and it's a love/hate relationship. I am addicted to the game, but there are moments when I just want to reset my password to something ridiculous so I could never access Origin: Camera behavior on multi-floor buildings. I'm not the only one having this problem and it's a big complaint with no resolve as far as I can see.

When playing a sim and it goes up the stairs, if the building has a gable roofs, or if there is wide open area that is fenced off from 2nd to first floor, it is impossible sometimes to keep focus or zoom in on the sim in play. I use the sims 3 cam and it's a little better, but drop-downs and ups are unbearable sometimes.

Got any tips? I'd really like to have a steadier game play. Thanks for looking. -B
