Gallery-Showcase-News Issues After December 2020 Update

Hello,

I haven't seen a topic related to this issue after the December 2020 "Major" update for Sims 4, so I thought I'd start this. 

Has anyone else had the issue of all images being unavailable in the Gallery, News (sidebar), and in your own Showcase items since the update? Every image has a red X through it, and when I click on any of them, I receive a message reading "Could not locate this item." 

I have contacted EA about this twice, and they do not seem to have a remedy, so I thought I'd ask here just in case someone has had this issue but found a way to fix it that EA may not know about. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled both Origin and Sims 4 twice, restarting my computer before and after each uninstall/reinstall event. I have cleared my cache and I have Repaired my game in Origin. Nothing is working. 

Everything in Sims 4 was working before the update. Every other game I have installed is working fine. Every other application on my computer is working fine. The only issue I'm having is with Sims 4's images in the Gallery, in Showcase, and in the News sidebar.

    Well, I don't know what the problem was, but I now can see the Gallery and everything else. 

    Yesterday evening, after work, I noticed that my Windows had some unfinished updates (something about their service had stopped before all my updates were complete. Go MicroSoft!) So I restarted the update, and then checked for others, and did those updates, too. Then I opened Origin, and they had an update, so I ran that. Then I ran the Repair on Sims4. After that, I did another check on my anti-virus. Every game folder, including EA, showed up in the "Approved" list, but for giggles, I decided to create a path directly to my Sims4.exe file in my anti-virus. Then I shut down my computer and went to bed.

    Like I said, I'm not sure whether it was any single thing or a combination of things, but when I tried Sims 4 this morning, I have everything back.

    So I guess when it comes to some issues with EA, just do everything and anything, short of throwing your computer out the window, and eventually, something might just work!

    @SoyokoAnis Thanks for replying! I guess I'll just have to be patiently impatient and wait for Maxis to find a fix.

    @DreaminCat I have this problem as well, and have had it for months. No one has been able to help, and I'm told it's a matter of waiting for them to fix it... Sadly

    Lol, I should have mentioned that I also tried the fix in the link regarding anti-virus. In fact, the second EA tech help person I spoke with sent me to that link on this site, which is how I'm even here now! 🙂 Essentially, I have tried everything to no avail. I guess I'll just stop playing Sims 4 for a few months and see if I'm sweetly surprised by a fix by then ☹️

    @DreaminCat  Have you tried completely disabling your antivirus?  It's often not enough to simply set exceptions for the game and Origin, as it used to be.

    If that's not the issue, try playing in a new admin user account on your computer, just for comparison.  (Leave your antivirus disabled while you test.)  You won't have access to your current user data, but you shouldn't need to reinstall anything.
