game compleetly restarted

just got on sims 4 again after a fair while not playing.

i have put almost 450 hrs into the game, i have 1 save where i have been collecting all the collectables, maxing skills and going up job trees. i have quite a few other saves as well.
i got all the rewards for the
june 4th Happy at Home Login Event Rewards  which means the longest its been has been about july 4th since i've been on the game as it was a 4 week run of getting the rewards for the game.

everything is gone! all neighborhoods, all businesses, all sims and save files EVERYTHING! including the event rewards and all previous event rewards.

i have tried checking one drive but i turned that off a while ago and dont think its that. i've checked the 2 places i could find sim save folders, i've created a new game to figure out where its saved at and the folder is empty beside the new save which is called Slot_00000003 so it means the pc thinks theres a 1 and 2? i guess.

i want to cry. (may be in part hormones from pregnancy but still) this is my relaxation game to sooth and i've been working so hard to achieve so much in the game. I've going through the formes to find any answer to this i can. i dont even remember everything i've done in the past 4 hours to try to fix it. if you have any ideas please let me know! i want my save file back! i want my event rewards back! i want all my hard work back! i know its a long shot but any and all suggestions are appreciated!

  • @Theenalove  I'm sorry to hear your save is gone, and unfortunately there's nowhere else to look.  You're right that it would only be one save slot (plus backups) if everything was in the single world; I wasn't sure from your description whether you had multiple saves or just multiple copies of the one save.

I don't really know why this happens, other than OneDrive error, so all I can suggest to people is they keep OneDrive away from their Sims 4 data if at all possible, and keep separate backups either on an external drive or another cloud storage service (Google Drive for example) that they manage on their own.  Trusting Sims 4 and OneDrive to keep user data safe is always a dicey proposition.

  • @Theenalove  Please check onedrive.com, both My Files and the Recycle Bin, just to see whether there are any leftover files.

For your computer, please download Everything, from VoidTools, which is a free and highly-efficient search tool (much better than the one built into Windows).  Search for Slot_ and let me know whether you find any stray Sims 4 saves.

The game itself doesn't use Slot_00000001 , so you're only supposedly missing one save slot, but still, nothing should be missing at all.

i've checked one drive in both files and recycle. theres nothing, i cleared out as i restored when i had the one drive hostage situation thing.

i'll check into voidtools! thank you!

and i didnt know they dont use 01 but i think it'd only be 1 save anyways since its all in 1 world? im not quite sure how the save things work. but i've only kept everything running in 1 world.

i'll let you know how it works. thank you

got void tools, searched only could find save file 3. i thought it was odd to save to 3 anyways but void tools couldnt find 2 either.

so i used it to search for sims 4 folders. there is one under onedrive on my pc. its compleetly empty as of 6/27/24 which would coinside with when im thinking my save went missing. i did an update and onedrive 'backed up' everything then threatoned to delete it all if i didnt pay the sub fee or whatever to keep it and when they backed up they also deleted it all off my harddrive. and since i went through one at a time to try and replace it all it seems its' been lost cause i guess i missed it. but its not in my one drive either. but i did find some screen shots of my character. so that was nice.

thank you for your help. im guessing if one drive doesnt have it and i dont the data is lost forever. so i'll have to just start over.
