Game crahses on loading since Oct 1 update

I'm experiencing constant crashes whenever I try to play the game. I've already cleared the cache, updated drivers, repaired the game, enabled DirectX 11, restarted my computer, removed all mods, ran it as admin, and repeated these steps multiple times. However, I keep receiving a pop-up that says "unable to start." I've also attached my Dxdiag and a screenshot of the pop-up. I even tried starting as a clean user by removing the Sims 4 folder, but nothing has changed.

  • Tharazaria  Thanks for the dxdiag and screenshot.  The error itself is typically related to an overly active antivirus, so please set exceptions in yours for TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64 (if you're going to use DirectX 9 at any point), and TS4_Launcher_x64; or the entire Bin folder they're in.  Set an exception for EADesktop.exe as well.

Your dxdiag doesn't show any Sims 4 crashes, which is typical for this kind of issue—the antivirus blocks the program from starting rather than crashing it.  I do see two crashes from Razer's Game Manager Service though, so it's worth uninstalling and reinstalling the app.  And there are also two crashes of a component of the AMD User Experience Program, which probably shouldn't be on your computer at all considering you don't have an AMD processor or graphics card.  If you can find it in the Windows Control Panel, uninstall it too.

If you get past the initialization error but see another crash, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
