@Funbags666 So you can in fact load the save, but building on a lot and trying to save causes an issue? Have you tried using "save as" instead of "save"?
If that doesn't help, please test the same lot in a clean folder, and try building on a different lot in the existing save. (You can use "save as" again if you don't want to save the build you've made.)
I've narrowed down the issue. In Rippling Flats, if I build in an empty lot called 'New Crest' is crashes on saving. Nowhere else does the game crash unless I build on the new crest lot. Very strange bug. I will just not build on new crest.
