Game crashes while in CAS

@scififgirl Please clear Origin's cache:

and repair the game: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.
If that doesn't help, move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Don't add anything to it yet; just see whether you can get through CAS. You also don't need to spend much time testing, although if you want to try to make the new household you've wanted, there's a way to combine it with your existing content (saves and the rest) later.
If the game crashes again, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you. I had previously repaired the game and cleared the cache. I repaired the game again after clearing the cache and deleted a previous saved game plus restarted computer which seemed to help as I finally managed to create a sim and actually play! If I get a repeat I will try the above too.
