Game crashing to desktop when selecting or moving in a household

Ever since the new University expansion came out I have been crashing to desktop every time I try to load a household.  I can create sims in CAS, I can move the sim into an empty house, but any time I try to load the household (my new sim or an existing household) I crash to desktop.    I have reset my game to factory settings as described here:  https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/READ-FIRST-Troubleshooting-your-Game/m-p/3621199 but it did not fix the issue.  I currently have no mods or CC in my game. I don't know what else to do  ☹️

    After I reset my game to factory settings I launched a completely fresh game, created a brand-new sim and placed her in an empty house.  When I clicked on the house to play that household, my game promptly crashed to desktop with no error message.

    UPDATE:

    I actually seem to have fixed the issue by repairing my game.   (from Origin, settings --> repair)

    I was able to add all my CC and mods back and load an old save file, and everything is now working fine.

    @Natzjr2  When you say you reset your game to factory settings, did you add anything to the clean folder afterwards?  (Even an old save counts.)  The most useful test is to remove your existing folder, launch the game, and try to start a new save.  Let me know if that's what you did, and if not, please try it now.

    If you still get a crash in this completely clean folder, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
