Game Crashing When Traveling

Hello! So I reloaded my recent save to start playing and after playing for a few minutes went to travel back to my sims home lot in a different map and the game loaded for about 10-15 seconds and then crashed. I tried different ways of traveling such as via the phone, by scrolling out and clicking travel and even tried switching control to a sim who was still at the home lot but they all resulted in crashes. I then tried just traveling to another lot within the existing map instead of to a different map and it did allow me to travel there without a crash. I thought maybe one of my mods was interfering somehow although nothing had been updated or changed since my last save (all post the recent big update, have been playing fine w/o issues since then up to this point) so I disabled mods and reloaded the save to try traveling outside of the map again. Retried all the different methods and same results even with mods off. 

I then recovered a save from a few days prior because I thought maybe the most recent save just got wonky somehow but now in the recovered save it wont even allow me to travel in-between lots within the same map, just crashes... I also tried deleting cache and that had no effect. I'm not sure what else to do here because this just happened very suddenly and I didn't change or do anything different in-between the recent saves. :(
