Game crashing
Hello Everyone! I have had the sims 4 since early December of 2015, And I love the game so much! I don't play without cc, so some of you may not be able to help me! Anyway, My game has started freezi...
Do you require further help with this ?
My game started freezing yet again. Just about to quit altogether. Its so annoying that I cant play a game that I have payed for. I payed for ALL the expansion packs, everything.
Yes, but if you're not willing to try without any downloads and play for a while that way to make sure it's not an outdated one, there's not much I can help you with.
There are lags issues in this game that get worse the longer you play a game but it could be a custom content you're using and those are not supported by EA.
I understand that custom content is not supported by EA, but I prefer to use it, because the items that EA has are awful. I have tried almost everything you have recommended, and nothing works. I have tried without any downloads the other day, and I get the same issue.
And it doesn't have anything to do with my gaming PC because I can run the other games I have perfectly.
I Took out my mods folder for the 30th time and my game is somewhat quicker, but it still freezes. so, Basically, it isn't my Mods that's causing the freezing. Then we go back to the game. And I'm not sure how I would fix something that has to do with my game.
As I'm away next week, I can't help you further but I see if someone else can continue helping you
Thanks, @crinrict.
Hi @slyytherinn,
Let's make all the tests from now on with a clean user folder, ok? Just to try to find the issue, we can move your save games and other content later.
Please, follow these steps:
Is the issue still happening? If so, try to lower the game settings. Any changes?
-Mai
I did everything you said, but when I went into game my 200 sims were all gone. I will be EXTREMELY upset if they are all gone forever.
Hi @slyytherinn,
Please, don't worry, your save games are in 'The Sims 4 freezing' folder, and they will remain there safe for now. It's very important you don't delete this folder.
We just want to use a new clean user folder to test your game, that's why we are trying in a folder without your save games. There might be an issue with any of your files in that folder, so we are going to do some tests to find out if that's the case.
When you created a new save game in step 4 of my previous post, and you played for a while, did the game work as it should?
-Mai
I renamed the sims 4 folder to "Sims 4 freezing" and I haven't removed It, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to remove it or if I am supposed to keep it there, but I am moving it to my desktop as we speak.
I'm starting a new saved game also. right now.
Hi @slyytherinn,
Keeping it in your desktop is perfectly fine.
How did the playing go with that new save game?
-Mai
I started a new game and played for over an hour. Everything worked perfectly fine, But I had no CC or mods.
Ok, @slyytherinn, let's start adding your user files to find out what's causing the issue.
With the game closed, copy from 'The Sims 4 freezing' to 'The Sims 4' a folder named 'saves'. After doing that, open the game and check if the issue is still not happening.
You will get a message telling you some custom content is missing from the game. Don't worry, it's normal. Please, play for a while for testing purposes but don't save your progress.
Still no issues?
-Mai
I moved all of my saves to my new saves folder, and somehow during that process, deleted my saves for my non-cc 100 baby challenge I had started a few days ago with my friend. I really enjoyed that save. now, your probably saying to go onto my gallery and just take them from there, the issue is, the only saved one I have of that family on my gallery is the mother before she had any children. Ive tried my recycling bin, and the files don't appear there.
Hi @slyytherinn,
Please, check if there are still files in the old 'The Sims 4 freezing / saves' folder.
If not, and if you can't find the missing files, unfortunately there's nothing we can do to restore that save game âšī¸
Sorry not to have better news for you, please, let me know if you manage to find the files.
-Mai
I found the files. they were in another folder haha.
Great, @slyytherinn! :eahigh_file:
In that case, please, copy them to 'The Sims 4' > 'saves' folder and try to play đ
Is the issue still not happening?
-Mai
haven't been able to go into game-- was away on vacation and I did not have my PC
I just got home today and went onto sims, played for about 20 minutes in-game and got freezing every 10-15 minutes. I also tried Create A Sim, everytime I click the gallery I freeze for about 2 minutes or when I'm saving a household.
Hi @slyytherinn,
Just to make sure - the only change you made was copying the saves folder, right? None of the other contents of The Sims 4 folder?
-Mai
Only that, yes. aswell as my Mods. I did not move over my mods folder, I just moved them over to the new mods folder if that makes any sense haha.
Ok, @slyytherinn, could you try to play with your saves but without your mods? Please, move your mods back to 'The Sims 4 freezing > Mods' folder, and play for a while without saving.
We want to introduce some files at a time, to check what files are causing the problem.
-Mai
it has been awhile since I have updated, sorry. I have given up on the sims 4 for a bit and moved to the sims 3, but my teenager's feet glitch and its super annoying so I have also taken a break from that. As I have mentioned before, I did a completely UNMODDED 100 baby challenge with my friend, and my game worked perfectly fine. I was debating on removing my mods completely, but I prefer making sims in CAS then actually being in-game and I like having more options with customcontent. I'm really not sure what to do anymore, I just want to be able to play my game again and enjoy it like I did a few months ago.
Hi @slyytherinn,
It's good to be sure it's a mods issue now. What you can do is install your mods a few at a time, trying the game and making sure you know which ones you installed last. Once the game starts giving you issues, you know they are caused for one or more of the mods you last installed.
This way you can identify the mods that are causing problems and remove or update them.
Good luck! đ
-Mai
The whole issue is, I have around 3,000 mods and taking them out one-by one would take probably 3 days haha. If I didn't take them out 1 by one, it would indeed be hard to tell which mods are the issue, so I'm hoping on just keeping my favorite mods and moving the others to a folder for a bit and see what happens .
Okay, so the whole issue is that my cc is in folders that are named such as "CAS_Genetics" which makes it hard to remove my cc easily. After I moved my 3 folders that I don't use often to my desktop and deleted my cache files after my friend told me that solved her issue, My game seems to get progressively worse. It now freezes for much longer, and in order for me to exit the game I need to turn off my laptop and turn it back on. It takes about 15 minutes for the gallery to even load up, and when I put a sim into CAS, I freeze every 2-3 minutes.
Hi @slyytherinn,
I would keep removing Mods, as it seems to still be a mods issue.
Remember you are using content that was not created by EA, and this can cause issues. 3,000 is a large number of files that could be incompatible with the game âšī¸
Good luck,
-Mai
Okay, here we go, back again to trying to figure out what the issue is.
Basically, I tried to play my game one last time without cc. Surprisingly, It froze multiple times, the exact same time span as when I play WITH cc. So, that led me to believe it was that my settings were too high, even considering that I have a very high priced gaming laptop that can handle games with much higher graphics than the sims. I lowered some of my graphics, which, did not work. It still froze. I deleted some of my cache files because someone had told me that can cause issues, and it also did NOT work.
To the point where I can't even go ingame anymore.
