Game doesn't save / Infinite saving

Every time I try to save my sims game (any type of saving, via the menu, via manage worlds or the save and quit option) it gets stuck on the saving screen and it doesn't save any of my progress. It happens every time I try to save my game for about the last week. I don't have any CC or mods installed and I haven't bought any new packs recently. I should also have more than enough storage on my PC.

The solutions that I've tried so far (and that haven't worked);

- Going offline on origin;

- Creating a new save game (it happens at every save game I've created. I have tried my save game where it first occured on another computer and that save worked fine, so I assume it's a problem in my game/my pc and not the save itself)

- Repairing my game;

- Creating a new sims 4 folder;

- I also noticed that OneDrive was trying to back-up the sims 4 folder but was unable to since my storage on OneDrive was full, so I freed up more storage so that it was able to sync it and I've even tried disabling OneDrive but even with OneDrive disabled my game still wouldn't save.

If anyone has any other suggestions for me to try please let me know! I feel like I've tried everything and I'm getting desperate

  • @lilstarry  Please try playing in a new admin Windows account.  (This will eliminate the influence of any issues with your current Documents folder or anything inside it, as each Windows account has its own Documents directory.)  Make it a local account, as in don't sign into Microsoft or OneDrive, and don't sync with any other services you normally use.  You'll be able to sign into Origin and won't need to redownload anything, but your saves and other content won't be available.

    Let me know whether this works, and we can go from there.  If it does work, one option is to transfer your content to the new account and continue from there, but I can see how you may not want to if your current account is set up exactly the way you like it.

    Hello @puzzlezaddict ! Thank you so much for your suggestion

    I've tried what you said and the same issue still came up even when I used a new admin Windows account where i wasn't signed in to anything.

    However I did find that the problem only occurs when overwriting an existing save file, when saving it as a new save file there's is no problem and it saves with no issue. (That's still really inconvenient though so I'm still desperately trying to fix it lmao).

    So I did find that the issue is with overwriting saves so that's a step further.

    Do you have anything else to suggest in this case?

    Thank you so much again in advance!
