Game freezing in create a sim

Do you actually create a Sim or did you also try to just give the standard one name and traits and then try to go to live mode (just for testing purposes) ?
Maybe download the process monitor to see if anything is happening in the background at all and what proceses are present ?
I did go through and quickly create a sim so that I could get to gameplay and see what happens. So I made a sim before work, shut the computer off, and then went into build mode when I got home. I set the stop watch on my phone - computer froze completely after 28 minutes of gameplay.
I'm not sure where to go from here.
I have evaluated the task manager, and there's nothing out of the ordinary going on in the background.

Have you tried process monitor ? It's more detailed than the task manager (just google it)
